TradeWell’s story begins not in a boardroom, but with our founder, Joan Horbeek. For 45 years, Joan managed multimillion-dollar drilling projects for global energy leaders such as Shell, Gaz de France and ONE-Dyas. It was a career defined by precision, discipline and managing high-stakes risk with no margin for error.
The Spark
Alongside his professional career, Joan’s true passion was ignited in a far less corporate setting: his basement, where ten overheating Ethereum mining rigs whirred away. It was chaotic, but it worked. From that moment, investing became personal. He moved from mining to startup seed rounds, from ETFs to high-risk crypto plays. He experienced both ends of the spectrum, enduring an 80 percent loss in one year and later seeing a seed investment grow into a seven-figure outcome.
A Hard-Earned Lesson
After decades in high stakes industries, Joan is now retired from corporate life and focused on managing his own capital with the same discipline and precision that guided his career. Years of overseeing complex projects taught him that returns are only part of the equation. Trust, structure, and protecting capital over the long term are what truly matter.
